Junior Team Field, Minor situation prolonged

It has been a tough year with getting the numbers at Junior level. A sudden exodus from the Intermediate ranks has had a knock on effect at Junior level. As a result, we have failed to field against Ballinasloe or Ahascragh/Fohenagh although ironically we have collected two points through Beagh being more strapped for players than us. Last Saturday, we did field which eliminated the prospect of our failing to field in Junior at all in a season, which has not happened in 30 years. The result may have been chastening but sadly, we have the playing numbers on paper, we just need the players to make the effort to be available. Last year's Junior campaign was not particularly successful but at least five players went into this years' Intermediate team. We have another fixture against Rahoon/Newcastle on Saturday in Furbo. If we can build a team over the remaining two games we might yet have a run in the Shield.
The Minor playoffs are now no closer to being resolved. With the All Ireland Minor Semi-final draw, the playoff with Portumna and Gort will not progress next weekend as planned as Jack Grealish (Gort) and Brian O'Meara (Portumna) will be in Croke Park on Sunday trying to win the replay.
