Mágh Cuilinn 6-16 Carnmore 2-05
Mágh Cuilinn followed up a fine win against Ballinderreen with an even more impressive win against Carnmore, hitting six goals again but putting in a far more impressive defensive performance. The panel of available players remained tight with only 17 players on duty, although the absence through injury and illness Cian McLoughlin and Daire Davoren was compensated by the return of Caleb McGuinness, Aaron Connell and a first appearance for Gareth Kenny.
It was evident from the start that Ryan Fox had the upper hand on his marker and he struck for two early goals. Frustrated for further goals on a couple of occasions the team gradually concentrated on accumulating points, including neatly taken effort from Dylan Curran raiding forward from wing back. Carnmore made robust efforts to respond but found Caleb McGuinness, Ciaran Scully and James Dempsey equally robust in defence. Micheal Bohan in goal for his fourth position in four matches also needed to be alert making several good saves. While Cian Connell added a goal and Anraoi Whyte and Ryan Fox shared nine points between them, Carnmore did raise some hope by finally breaking through for a goal before the halftime break.
In the second half the pattern was much the same with the loss of Anraoi Whyte through a blood injury having little impact on the result. Whyte had added 1-05 to the scoreboard before his departure while Ryan Fox doubled his goal total.
