Senior Hurling comes to Baile Doite
Post date: Feb 9, 2012 1:24:12 PM
Moycullen play their first game of Senior Hurling in 33years at Baile Doite next Sunday morning, 12th February. Kinvara who were actually relegated last year but were offered a reprieve by the re-organisation of the Senior Championship have a early start to get to Moycullen for the throw in at 10.30am. The game time is to facilitate the double header at Pearse Stadium. The Galway v Kilkenny Bord na Mona Walsh Cup final has been fixed for 12:45pm with the Galway senior footballers playing Louth in the Allianz Football League on after at 2:30pm.
Moycullen will, of course, have to plan without Mark Lydon who we hope will figure in the Walsh Cup final. Also absent will be Niall Mannion and Matt Donoghue, who will be in Dublin on duty for GMIT in the Kehoe Cup final against St Pat's, Drumcondra. Former Galway player and Kinvara defender, Ger Mahon wil also be in Dublin.
We have waited a long time for Senior Hurling in Moycullen so hopefully supporters will come down to Baile Doite for this historic occasion.
Also this weekend, Moycullen will play an U21 challenge against Rahoon/Newcastle at 4pm on Saturday in Tonabrocky. While the team has a lot of young players involved, numbers at training has been pretty good. Saturday will offer the first opportunity to test their mettle.
