Minor Minor Championship Chaos

It would appear that there is a slight wrinkle in the Minor B1 Championship group. While there is no doubt as to the teams who have qualified, the fact that some points have been gained from walkovers means that teams tied on points for positions must play off to decide who they face in the quarter finals.
Thus Moycullen must play off against Meelick-Eyrecourt to determine who finshes first and second and Ballinasloe and Michael Cusack's must do the same for third and fourth. The quarter final draw is pre-determined with first facing fourth and second facing third in the crossplay of the two groups.
An extra game with limited significance might prove a handy warm-up for the real thing in the quarter final.
It does show how teams failing to complete fixtures can cause chaos in the fixture schedule in terms of resolving competitions. The same thing occurred at as high a level as Intermediate last season, resulting in several convoluted playoffs and the delay of the Championship by a week, even with teams playing on five consecutive weeks.
