April Update

Post date: Apr 13, 2013 3:46:07 PM

April is building towards the big day on April 27th when Mágh Cuilinn face Pearses in Round 1 of the Senior Championship. While our most recent Senior game may have ended in defeat, supporters on hand were encouraged by the performance. See Match Report.

Our U16's got there campaign of to winning start at home to Ballinderreen (see Report). Many of the same players were in action again on Friday evening when the Minors had a narrow win over Rahoon/Salthill (Match Report) The Minors are scheduled to be in action again next Saturday away to Cois Fhairraige. The exact venue and time is to be decided (either An Spideál or Indreabhán). The U16's are also away next Thursday against Carnmore at 6.30pm.

The busiest team over the last couple of weeks have been the U14 team with two Championship fixtures for each of the two teams and another three games in the Toddie Byrne Cup last weekend. Their Championship schedule shifts from Saturday to Monday evenings with the A1 team at home to Craughwell at 6.30pm, while the U14C team resume after a two week break with a game away to Ballinderreen at 7pm. More on U14.

While on the subject of the Underage affairs, congratulations are due to all those who participated in the Local cleanup fundraiser both as collectors of rubbish and of cash. The clean-up crew took their social responsibility to extraordinary lengths by extending way beyond the parish boundary and attacking a section of the N59 between Killeen and Attyshonock. The exercise shows good example to the many youths who took part and supplements the efforts of the Tidy Towns and other community groups. The effort was clearly much appreciated with €2710 and £6 being contributed on the day. Míle Buíochas.

The updated Galway website now includes a feature which allows club members to select the full fixture schedule for their club from U13 right through to Senior. With Cumann Iomanaíocht Mágh Cuilinn playing 4/5 official fixtures each week now, it is an avid supporter who gets to them all. Check it out It would appear from the schedule that our Junior hurlers who are yet to see action this season begin their championship campagn on Saturday 4th May.
