Fun Run Final Event for 2013

Post date: Nov 17, 2013 6:08:30 PM

Following on from our Table Quiz, the Fr Fitzgerald Cup, our Cul Camps and our Centra Hurling Skills Event, Cumann Iománaíocht Mágh Cuilinn is organising a Fun Run on the 7th December to round off the year. The club has had a tough year financially, with significant expenses in relation to new nets at the pitch and pitch maintenance as well as our financial committment to the fabulous net facilities that our local volunteers have built. it has also had significant expenses in relation to player injuries this year, not all of which has been covered by insurance.

The club gives good in value activity to our players with competitive games costing our players less than €2 each game at juvenile level and less than €3 each at adult level in terms of the membership fees we charge, without reference to coaching sessions or club competitions.

The club currently has a slight shortfall on the year's activities but strong support for the Fun Run, particularly from adult and youth players, will ensure that we live within our means in 2013. All are welcome and while the competitive runners may wish to hare off to achieve their best time, there is plenty of room for those who would want to follow the route in a less hectic manner.

Assembly and registration is at 11pm with the start on the Rocks road at 12pm. Runners/walkers will need to allow at least 10 minutes to make their way to the start proper from the registration area. The race will proceed from the Rocks Road, turning left onto the Tullykyne Road where it will proceed for a short distance before turning into Ballinahallia and continuing into Leagaun and keeping right through Leagaun until re-emerging on to the Tullykyne Road. The run continues directly toward Tullykyne and Baile Doite to the finish back at Páirc Mhaigh Cuilinn. Refreshments will be available at the race end and hopefully we can all look forward to a enjoyable and healthy days activity.

Adults can pre-register for the run atRun Ireland as the event is listed there. Pre-registgered runners will be able to collect their numbers separately and avoid any delay at registration.

Cumann Iománaíocht Máigh Cuilinn will be donating part of the funds raised to the Galway Hospice.
